How To Have A Pure Heart As a Christian

Psalm 51:10-1 states “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” And Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God. What is the heart?

Quote by: Lao Tzu

Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny

For most of us we would think the heart God is talking about is the one that’s pumping blood through our body. However that’s not the heart God is talking about. The word Heart in the Bible means Mind.

As human beings we used our mind to think. So David was actually praying like this: Create in me pure thoughts, O God and renew my mind. In other words; God help me to think like you.

Striving for a Pure Heart? These 3 Practical Steps Will Get You There

  1. Stop thinking bad thoughts towards people. Instead of gossiping behind people’s backs, use kind words to uplift others like your friends, families and relatives.
  1. Stop judging people wrongfully. Instead get to know the person you are judging, you will be surprised to know how nice they are.

Jesus said “out of the abundance of the heart a man speaks.” Matthew 12:34. So, whatever thoughts you have towards someone you will eventually manifest it when you speak.

  1. Love your neighbors. Go out of your way and help people who you come in contact with, do something nice for them. Eg. Babysit for your family, help a senior cross the street etc. Love covers a multitude of sins.

4. Keep your thoughts pure, your thoughts are truly who you are. If you want to have a pure heart, watch what you dwell on.
