If you are struggling with habitual sins and don’t know how to get rid of them, you are not alone. You can’t depend on yourself to save yourself. That’s why Jesus came down from heaven to save us. We are self destruct people and filled with nothing but wickedness.
Jeremiah 17:9-10
“The heart is deceitful above all things And desperately wicked; Who can know it? God sent his only son Named Jesus to die for our sins and the sins of the world. So that through Him ( Christ we might be saved.) God is a holy God and hates sin.
Nothing that is sin can be in his presence. Sin deserves death. And because we are sinful people Jesus took our place in death in order to save us. He became sin for us who knew no sin. So that where He is we can be there with him too.
Habitual sin is very dangerous, how do I know? Because I was there once. I used to struggle with habitual sin. Habitual sins are sins that you do out of habit. You don’t want to do them but you find yourself doing the very same thing you don’t like doing.
For instance, cussing, if you are a person who hates cursing and using bad language and finding yourself doing the same thing you hate all time, that’s become a habit, a very bad one.
As Paul says in Romans 7:18-25 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I’m not really the one doing the wrong, it is sin living in me that does it.
Here is what you need to do at this moment in your life. Cry out to God with all your heart, and let him know that you are struggling with sins in your life. Name out all the sins to God that you are struggling with. Tell him how much you want to live for him and use your life to please him to bring honor unto His name.
Have you ever heard the saying habits are easy to make but hard to break? It’s true, isn’t it? Or it’s so easy to gain weight to so hard to lose it. Or nothing good comes to us easily. These are all known as idioms. Meaning in other words if we want to see great results and great change we have to work very hard in life to reap the reward in the end.
Nothing in life comes easy, my friend. And I learned that the hard way. Scripture tells us in Luke 13:24 to work hard to enter the narrow door of God’s Kingdom. Many will try to enter but will fail. We have to make every effort.
Also, the book of Philippians 2:12 tells us that we need to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. In other words, get rid of every form of sin that will hold us back from entering into God’s Kingdom. Everything that is a sin including the little white lies, gossiping, Jealousy etc…
Fast: Fasting draws us closer to God, and fasting gets rid of the flesh. When we fast we show God that we are humble and we only depend on him to save us. Fasting will break a lot of bad habits in your life.
Why? When you fast you are crucifying the flesh, putting the flesh under subjection and yielding to the will of God. In other words, you are saying to God, God here is my Life, my will, my desires. Take them as an exchange for yours. I submit to your will and your authority. Be the Lord of my life.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. I hope this information helps you.
