Being single is a blessing and not a curse. Some people look at singleness and say it’s a curse. Then again; it’s how a person perceive and look at life in general. Looking at life from one lens and not two can be very challenging at times to see a blessing in one’s current state.
Remember to everything in life there is a season; and we all know it very well that seasons don’t last. However, some seasons may be longer than others and cause someone to get frustrated in the process of waiting.
In today’s society I see majority of women rushing to find their life long partner; and by rushing some of them end up picking the wrong person. Some people date then break up, while others get married and their marriage ends in divorce. Why? Fear, they fear that they are getting old and they don’t want to be lonely.
However, these are some things that some women say: “I’m getting old and time is running out.” Or “I’m turning 30 soon and I need to find me the one”! These are just poor excuses for rushing into a relationship. Fear is your ultimate enemy to anything good you want to accomplish or gain in your life. Moreover, fear comes form the enemy in 2 Timothy 1:7 says “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”
Fear can cause someone to paralyze and not do the things that they were called to do. Fear can also cause a person to make wrong decisions, like choosing the wrong partner to get married. Whatever decision-making you have to do in life, don’t allow fear to control you. Don’t be a victim of fear; but think logic. Reason with yourself and slow down, don’t let your emotions get in the way, emotions are just emotions they come and go.
Some women think because they are single something must be wrong with them and that they are cursed. That’s talking pure rubbish, they are the ones that curse themselves by speaking negative words into their lives. What they fail to realize is that God has given them much grace and favour to embark on a journey that calls singleness to accomplish their goals. Words are very powerful, Proverbs 15:4 Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
However, sometimes a woman may go through a season of singleness for a long period of time because she was meant to be in that season to accomplish her purpose in life. Therefore, if you are a single woman today, be encouraged and know that you are blessed. There is a reason and a purpose behind everything you are going through. After all, seasons weren’t meant to last; they come and go.
Your singleness won’t last forever, and you should never be ashamed of being single. Embrace it and use it wisely to accomplish your goals in life. To everything there is a season and God is always on time. Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
In conclusion, you should never make any decisions based on your emotions why? Emotions are not loyal, they can cause you to choose the wrong person. When dating, use good judgement and logic. Love should not be rushed, rather you should let things work out naturally on their own. Don’t ever force love. Song of Solomon 8:4 Young women of Jerusalem, I charge you, do not stir up or awaken love until the appropriate time. (CSB)
