What is Faith? Most believers struggle with this. We would tell someone whenever they are going through difficult times to trust God and have faith, but do we really as Christians trust God and put our faith in him? The dictionary defines faith like this: Faith is having complete trust or confidence in someone or something. So faith is putting your complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Yep, most believers across the world are struggling to put their complete trust and confidence in God. Sometimes God allows us to go through hard times so we can stretch our faith in him. When we go through hard times it will help us to see that we need God and that we cannot accomplish anything on our own. God loves when we depend on him because we are not self-sufficient. Everything belongs to God, Psalms 24:1-3 Says “ that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world, and those who dwell therein. So God is sufficient; he owns everything including us and the very breath that we are breathing. God wants us to trust him and know that he will take care of us. Think of a little child, when you have children they are dependent on you to feed them, clothe them, and give them love and affection. Children do not have a care in this world why? Because they depend on us, they don’t worry about where the next meal is going to come from or where to sleep at night, because they know that mommy and daddy are going to take care of them. Therefore, they don’t worry about these things. We need to do the same with God, he tells us in the book of Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you should drink, nor what you will wear on your body”. Jumping down to verse 30 of Matthew it then Says “Wherefore, If God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, will He not much more clothe you- O ye Of little faith? Faith is a choice to believe in something with no concern for proof and then act on that belief.
Hebrews 11:1 says now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. So faith is believing in something to happen even though you cannot see the outcome of it yet, but you know that what you’re believing will happen or come to pass. Therefore, faith is a choice you need faith to become a Christian. For example, I choose to believe in Jesus Christ that he died for my sins and that by believing in him, my sins will be forgiven. The promise is clear, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that Whoever Believes in him will not die but have eternal life John 3:16 It is faith in a person that saves a believing soul, not faith in a particular philosophy or a code of rules. Therefore, Christians or saved by grace through an act of faith. I choose to believe, however You may say so if we are saved by grace through faith, why do we still need faith? Good question: If you want to live a life that pleases God you Must to believe in him. Even though Jesus took away the guilt of sin, indwelling sin in your nature will still be the cause of many temptations. Faith opens the door to a victorious life! By faith, we can truly overcome as Jesus overcame! This is the victory that overcomes the world-our faith. Having faith is very vital to our Christian walk, Jesus said to doubting Thomas: Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed in John 20:29 We as believers in Christ should walk by faith and not by sight.
