How to Live a Life Pleasing  to God?

How Can We Please God In Today’s World?

Psalm 119:9
How can a young man keep his ways pure?
By guarding it according to your word.

Do you want to have a closer relationship with Christ? Have you ever felt stuck or stagnant in your walk with God? Well if your answer is yes to any of these questions, here are some insights that could help further your relationship with Christ. A lot of people grew up in a Christian background but are not fully committed or submitted their lives to God. Here are some reasons why some people find it so hard to fully surrender their lives over to God.

Afraid of failure: Failure that they will keep messing up. The truth is that no one is righteous according to Romans 3:10-12 None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.

We are human beings and are destined to make mistakes anyways. Psalm 51: 5 says “Behold, I was sharpened in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceived me.”

Christians are hypocrites: Some people think that a lot of hypocrites are in Church, while that information may be true; remember it is your soul that is online. Everyone will have to give an account of how they live their lives and what they do. Romans 14:12 says “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.” So then every one of us shall give an account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore.

Refusing to give up worldly lifestyles: We are selfish creatures, we don’t want to give up anything that we see as pleasure. These things that we call pleasures are hurting us spiritually. A lot of people find it very hard to give up sex, drugs, unfruitful relationships, pornography etc… but what you don’t know is that you are spiritually killing yourself. Do you ever hear the statement, why would a good God send someone to hell? God doesn’t send anyone to hell. Yes, He’s a loving God, but He’s also a Holy God, and a Righteous God as well. It would be you sending yourself to hell out of disobedience to God’s words. God doesn’t want to see humanity perish, but He calls all to repentance. God sent His son Jesus on this earth to die for our sins upon a cross so that you and I would have life eternally. God loves sinners but He hates the sin that we commit every day. Sin has a price, he took your sin and my sin on the cross so we wouldn’t have to spend eternity in hell. Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Pride: The majority of people in today’s society are very prideful, even some Christians. God hates pride, I’m still dealing with pride, I’m asking the Lord to remove from me the spirit of pride and replace it with humility. It’s very easy to become prideful, try not to think so highly of yourself. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. 1Peter 5:5-6

So to become a better Christian we should remove ourselves from doing worldly things such as abstaining from all sexual movies, and T.V shows, cussing, using foul language, taking the Lord’s name in vain, and sexual immorality (which means no sex before marriage.)

We should not support movies that have sex scenes in them. Make sure you read your Bible every day, to draw strength from God. Pray every day on an ongoing basis in your life, so that you can have a close relationship with the Lord. Pray about your shortcomings, dreams, desires, friends, families and every decision that you have to make in your life.

Be very careful how you live your life, you will reap what you sow. Don’t be ignorant of satan’s devices. Some of these devices that Satan uses are Division, Offence, Pride, Distractions and more. Satan plans with his demons to dig up past sins to use against you. Satan will use whatever past sin you are struggling with to get you back where he wants you. For example: If you were struggling with anger, bitterness, pornography, lying, or whatever it may be. He will try to reuse them against you. Learn how to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

In conclusion God called his children to holiness. He expects us to live a holy life and set apart for Him to do good works. Therefore, we must consecrate our lives unto God on order for Him to use us as his vessels.
